What do you think about this David Meister matte jersey dress? Would you wear it? Does it look fashion forward or a 90's throwback?

FIG Finale Sale: What We Bought

My friends and I had a great girls shopping weekend in Dallas. Unfortunately the FIG Finale sale was a little disappointing. The selection was great, but I kept waiting for them to do the deep discounts that I experienced back in August. Needless to say, I only bought three items - a two-piece skirt suit and a pair of brown pumps. I love what I bought though! My friend Akosua scored the best deals of us all - she bought two pairs of Modern Vintage Mary Lou boots (one in black and one in brown) for $75 a piece. To give you an idea of how good of a deal this was, Zappos.com has these boots listed as originally $353.95. Don't they look like they were made for her?

I also bought some brown leather Mary Ann pumps also made by Modern Vintage. I had never heard of Modern Vintage but I am very impressed. The shoes are so comfortable and stylish at the same time. The leather quality is also exquisite. The shoes are listed on this site for $189.99. My price? $40! Gotta love it!

I couldn't find a picture of the skirt I bought online (the designer's website seemed to be having issues), but I did find the jacket. The designer is Chalet. They have the jacket here for $167.50 . I paid $80 for the entire suit! I guess it was worth going. I'll just be waiting for the next one in hopes that I can have another shopping experience like the first time I attended.

This Weekend: FIG Finale Sale in Dallas!

Remember my bargain brag back in August? To refresh your memory, I bought almost 15 items and didn't even pay $300! Well the next FIG Finale sale is coming up tomorrow, February 7th (11 am -10 pm) and Friday, February 8th (11 am - 8 pm). Here is a post about it on The Dallas Morning News' shopping blog.

So here's the scoop: admission is 12 bucks (cash). Most places only accept cash (though there's an ATM on site). There are tons of designer items (items I bought included a bra, clutch, shoes, dresses, blouse, blazer and jewelry). Also, no dressing rooms (if there is one, it's quite make-shift) - so wear something that's easy to try things on over. It's located right by Steven Pyles' restaurant on Ross & Akard.

It's kind of a bummer that they are having it on a Thursday and Friday instead of a Friday and Saturday. Regardless, I'm taking advantage of it! I'm taking Friday as a vacation day and am having 6 friends come in town! I'll be sure to post the deals I find. If you go to the sale and get some great deals make sure to submit your photos to me at divaonadollar@yahoo.com.

Also, Neiman Marcus is having their Consolidation Sale where you can get up to 75% off Feb. 7-10. This is at Neiman Marcus NorthPark. The catch: all sales are final!

HAPPY SHOPPING!

Reader Request: Katherine Heigl's Watch in 27 Dresses

Reader Question:

I love reading your blog-you find the best sales! I have a question for you that I really hope you can answer. I don't know if you've seen the movie yet, but in 27 Dresses, Katherine Heigl wears this beautiful white and gold circle link bracelet-style watch in several of the movie's scenes. I love how feminine, dainty, and unique it is, but I feel like I've looked everywhere on the web and can't find out what designer makes it and the style name. Could you help me with this? I'm not even sure where to look (other than google-ing it which hasn't produced any answers) or who to contact, but I'm sure you have made some great contacts. I would greatly appreciate any help! Thanks so much!

This one was tougher than I expected. The costume designer for 27 Dresses informed me that the watch Katherine Heigl wore throughout the movie was actually vintage. However, below a

Badgley Mischka for How Much?

Saks is having a phenomenal sale online. Some of these items caused me to do a double take!

Badgley Mischka Sportswear Selma Tweed Short Jacket - $107.34 (over 75% off!)
Isn't this tweed jacket just darling? Unfortunately Saks isn't carrying the pants online, but you can still wear the jacket as shown with solid pants or even denim with knee boots. Here's the catch 1) they only have one size left - size 10, and 2) even though the picture shown looks like it is a black and gray mix, the available color is coffee. Still a great deal!

Badgley Mischka Platinum Label Strapless Cocktail Dress - $142.74 (was $595!)
Ladies, you would definitely be the talk of the cocktail party if you walked in wearing this gorgeous Badgley Mishka Platinum Label strapless dress. The quality and structure are absolutely amazing and you certainly cannot beat the price. Like the jacket above it's only available in size 10.

Cards, Please!

Do you know anyone who just can't get enough of Spades, Gin, Blackjack or Poker? How about this: have you ever played cards at someone's house (maybe even your own!) to find the deck was missing a card or two? I found these nice card sets that look great from pretty inexpensive to super cheap! Enjoy!

COLBY LEATHER CARD SET - $11.99 Pottery Barn
This card set from Pottery Barn comes with a deck of cards, a notebook and pencil (for keeping score, of course). You can even add a monogram (for an additional charge).

DOUBLE CARD CASE - $14.95 Crate & Barrel
This faux leather card case holds two decks of red and white polka dot cards.

CARD SET - $3.99 West Elm
Though this card set from West Elm isn't as schnazzy as the other two, the price is certainly right! The box is made of canvas and in addition to the beet color shown, it also comes in flax and espresso.

Diane von Furstenberg dresses on sale

Just by looking at them, you may not think these prices are all that great. But once you look at the original prices and the fact that they were designed by fashion extraordinaire Diane von Furstenberg, the prices look so much better! All of the dresses are found at Nordstrom.

Camelita Wrap Dress - $145.90 (was $365)
We all know that no one does wrap dresses like DvF! This fun Camelita wrap dress is on sale for 60% off. If you don't like these colors, they have another version in a different pattern with more muted colors here for the same price.

Abaje Ponte Knit Dress - $169.90 ($425)
Very chic and feminine and best of all - 60% off! You may not want to take too long to purchase this fab Abaje knit dress. Match this one with a colorful clutch for an extra pop!

Svetlana Wrap Dress - $206.90 (was $345)
Though it is kind of hard to tell with the bow in the front, this is indeed a wrap dress. It's made of silk jersey and the pattern and shape give it a Latin flair. A great party dress!

Filomena Dress - $278.90 ($465)
This is definitely my favorite of the bunch. This Filomena dress is exquisite and elegant. And, since it's made from a wool blend, it is appropriate for the season. The side pockets show that though it looks a little like old Hollywood, it still current and on-trend.
